From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of characters who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party knows exactly where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could assist the party reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
