Two Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals injured by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was isolated and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
